Abstract

The formation of a secular Jewish art in Eastern Galicia was not least due to the activity of the Kulturträgers. Through them, one can trace the process of institutionalization of Jewish art in the region. So, in reviews of the exhibitions of Deborah Vogel, published in the popular Lviv periodicals, were often dedicated group exhibitions of Lviv artists, but clearly stressed the significance and meaning of the foremost artists of Jewish heritage. The artist and the Museum Manager, Ludwik Lille, created a Union of professional artists in Lviv. The representatives of secular Jewish art received the opportunity to remove the restrictions related to religion and nationality when entering the professional Union. This article is devoted to the analysis of the motives of the leaders of the Jewish intellectuals in the process of institutionalization of secular Jewish Lviv art of the first third of the 20th century.
